Tough Dimension Data job interview questions

Tell me one thing I’m not very good at as it pertains to interviewing and our conversation today.

Wow. That is a pretty difficult question, and not appropriate I think. Maybe appropriate if the interviewee is purely managing people.

I didn't get asked any of those questions when I interviewed with them a while ago. I got the job, but turned it down. It was more of a conversation. Had first HR round of interviews, then meat the HOD and then went to a panel. The first round was a standard HR type of interview. The interview with the HOD and panel were relaxed, didn't feel formal and generally easy. DD is a very cool company to work for. I do regret not taking them up on the offer.

My interview was very, very different. Single interview where they assessed my abilities, and got the offer not 20 minutes afterwards.

Can't say I regret the decision, very happy with DD as an employer.

Did you read that the way it was written or did you apply it to yourself (Tell me one thing you're not very good at...)?

it's a pretty interesting question...would have to make up some not-overly insulting BS on the spot. Glad I've never gotten that before :o

What do you think is the differentiator between Dimension Data and its competitors?

a. You called me back.
b. You offered me more.

/deliberate misread

OHHI. Of course you are. :)

Well you just answered his/her question.

This could be a deliberate question to see how the interviewee deals with confrontation. I would be very careful on how to answer this question. The answer would of course depend on the position being applied for.

There's only one correct answer...

•How would you convey a technology solution to a C-suite executive? What diagrams would you use, and why?

You don't, unless there is a specific need. All they typically need to know is what deliverables they can expect and the cost vs. benefit. Leave the tech diagrams to the architects :P

Let's dumb it down so they understand :)

Have had to do business case presentations to execs for funding purposes...as you say, replace the technology bits with the business value that it delivers and it becomes easier for the execs to relate to.

I went for an interview there once. They asked me questions about DD, and all the answers were all over the walls just outside the interview room waiting area. The ladies didn't seem interested in me, but rather how much of the DD material I read. The interview was relaxed and not a single technical question was asked of me. Position was for telephonic tech support or something. Can't remember exactly. I do remember how huge their office block was.

Those aren't really tough questions.

They must have ****ty staff.

I never got any of these questions when I was interviewed by them five years ago. My interview was done differently, and though it was for the call center, I'd researched other parts of the company beforehand, including their merger with NTT a year before. That seemed to catch the interviewer off guard. Most of the candidates they'd gotten weren't very interested in other parts of the company, it seems.

Did you get a job offer?
