Towers filling up or something wrong

I think IBurst needs to identify the most congested towers:
1. Northcliff
2. Rosebank (thats mine BTW)
3. Randburg
etc

Then add new towers in those locations and upgrade those towers to all use 100Mbs pipes.

Once you have that done then go and put towers in Nelspruit (no offence) etc
 
There is one problem to putting up various towers in one location. Your modem will then do "base station hopping", which will lead to frequent disconnections, slower speeds etc. It's not a good idea to put up two towers let's say 2km from each other, but it might work if they are evenly seperated.

F*** this now, I'm not capped, I can't log onto msn, it struggles to load pages & when I tried to update my antivirus it was downloading at 0.4 KB/s, I looked at my latency to a local CS server 2000ms! WTF!:mad:

Speaking from a logical vs IBurst technology perspective I see a couple of solutions to the problem.

1. Make the IBurst basestation algorithm more intelligent. For example, lock onto basestations for longer durations and only switch when there would be a significant improvement in signal quality and speed. Based on what I have seen, my connection hops to other far away stations with less signal quality and the same load, which makes no sense (to me at least). Also, create a manual "lock to a specific tower" option, so if you like Northcliff, then you can lock your connection into Northcliff manually and your connection will not hop.
2. IBurst provides free directional antenaes to users in "high hop" areas. With an optional techie to help you set it up. That way you lock yourself into a basestation of your choice and not worry about basestatation hopping.

I am speaking as an IBurst technology neophyte, so I can see point 1 being shot down. However I do think point 2 is quite feasible.
 
Got the same prob here s1ght, cept I am capped...but it shouldn't matter since I've been capped for 3 days and it was perfect until a little while ago.

Nothing wants to connect, pages struggle loading and downloads CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWL on all fours.

It's gotten slightly better in the last few minutes...but still crap.
 
Don't want to be speak too soon, but i will be honest with you guys - i haven't seen my connection perform this decently like this in 2.5 months..

Sure they trying to do something right, connecting to Fourways (Indaba) Tower..

Excuse my post, there was some ambguity in it. It's performing decently.. My past 3 months have been vomit..
 
Mine is doing better now actually, after the Cape Town upgrade.. it seems maby it was an upgrade after all.
 
Well apparently they were upgrading all of the Cape Town towers, thats why most of them were degraded this afternoon.

I'm not sure what exactly the upgrade was, but it seems a bit better after it was finished.
 
You don't suppose they started upgrading the towers capacity? I doubt it, but wouldn't mind if they did.

I've no idea what they did to the tower but if anything it's worse my side:sick:
 
Access speed is slower...

Hi Mr H

Yes, I agree the access speeds are lower but the connection seems far more stable at the moment.

Are you using a xxx.xxx.70.xxx IP? Have a look at the dead IP range post and switch to 70, you might have done this already?
 
When the tower came back I was stuck with the dreaded 64 but I managed to find a 70 after many tries and have held onto it for a few hours now.:)
Still in general it seems slower than normal tonight.
 
What is your current speed then? I think they are working on the JHB towers. The radio network is degraded there.
