Auris X Review

I think it's W-A-Y overpriced, you get to little for what you're paying for...R254K for a 97kW car, you gotta be kidding me :-/

I wonder how much Toyota SA paid the "journalist" for that review.

the cars I drove over varied roads and distances in the Eastern Cape impressed me with their typical Toyota build quality, an undeniable feeling of luxury inside the cabin and with the sprightliness of their motors.

LOL. A feeling of luxury...inside a Toyota. Plasitcky steering wheel with plasticky dash.

Even the entry-level 1.3 X is packed with features almost too numerous to mention, and it is what one would frankly expect from a car costing just under R200 000. (Yes, for a 1.3-litre hatchback – remember, it is a Toyota!)

Since when has Toyota been a premium brand? Even Toyota's reliability image has been tainted.

These goodies include air-con, electric power steering, leather-covered gearknob and steering wheel, with satellite controls for audio and Bluetooth, full size spare, bright Optitron instrumentation, front and side airbags with front passenger airbag deactivate switch, central locking, anti-lock brakes with EBD and BAS, USB/AUX jack, RDS radio/CD combination with six speakers and Bluetooth, tilt and telescopic steering wheel adjustment, rear windscreen wash/wipe with interval setting and demister, and intermittent front wipers.

The only feature on this list that's not standard on most equivalent cars at the moment is bluetooth and you can get that fitted for under 3K.

This car is seriously overpriced. Plain and simple.

I must admit that the Auris is not littering the streets as its predecessor...the RunX.....or Rungks....

must be a sign to Toyota that the car is not as kool...or as the OP stated....overpriced....

but if we are going to be talking of overpriced, we should in fairness drag the Golf 5.2 in here as well...

Gimme a Golf 6 1.4 tfsi over an AurisX any day of the week. Auris/Corolla is boooring.

Of course, I'd rather take a year-old new shape Prius for that price :D

Auris failed on so many levels. The Civic hatched kicked its ass and rubbed in the dirt in Japan, here the Golf 5 did similar. Toyota really need to rethink their strategy on their next model. For me they played it too safe with this model.
As for the pricing, its insane, & we all know car prices never go down so Im scared to see the next price line up.

no auris performance model how disapointing when the runx produces the 141 kW at 7 800 r/min and its peak torque of 180 Nm at 6 800 r/min. Drive is via a six-speed manual transmission na what a shame toyota hopefully they will produce a hybrid performance hmmm....

Not sure what's up with Toyota... Not only is this car slow, its ugly... That kit looks like it was made for a Tazz. Sad really. But then again ever this the lousy RunX RSI its been downhill for them.
Even their Prius will fail in SA.

VW seem to be miles ahead now. seems like one of these days Hyundai will be the next Toyota in SA.

Hhahahaha give me an Audi A31.4T for that price.

+1000

comparing build quality... and ride... and engine...

the Aurus should be competing against the Polo to my mind. But pricing prohibits that. Certainly if they priced this about 50-60k lower and lowered the pricing on the Yaris by 20-35k then their range would look a lot more competitive. But going up agains the Golf or Audi with that... Id pick an Audi or Subaru over that any day.

Toyota have had their performance RSIs since the 80s.

Sad they decided to drop it a few years back

I loved my RunX RSI and would have at least looked if they made an Auris RSI. They're alienating the few younger drivers they had
