Hi guys, new to this.
So i've got a 99 conquest tazz 2E, that idles roughly (slight surge or hunt), i'm not sure if i'm using the terminology correctly, but basically idle is smooth for like 2-3 seconds, then drops, then idles again for 2-3 seconds. It does not stall. Also, it accelerates fairly normal, however, at constant speeds, i feel like the car has a back and forth motion. This all started after i had a blown manifold/exhaust gasket (flange). This was replaced and i never got my idle right. So i've done a major service, as it was due, and even replaced my spark wires. i haven't replaced the rotor or cap as it seemed fine. I've checked for a vac leak, but haven/t checked the fuel system or carb yet. Any ideas? Just to add, the idle and running was fine before the manifold/exhaust leak

They must've messed up the carb when putting the egr back.
Have you had the carb/CO adjusted after repair?
Do a basic tune up first and then take it from there.
What's the mileage? Carb might need to be overhauled.

Remove dipstick and check if there's pressure coming out of it.

I have had the carb adjusted, but by ear, not using an analyser. The mileage is about 250K. How do I go about doing a tune up correctly and where can I access an analyser? Also, the idle/air adjustment hasn't changed the idle too much

In June 2017, Julia departed her home in Cape Town in her 20-year-old Toyota Conquest and drove it 12 000km across Africa, all the way to her daughter’s house in London, England! d02c764fa0984384a058e53f16bda406.jpg

Was the matter sorted?

Julia Albu, the grandmother who completed an epic Cape-to-Cairo road trip in her 20-year-old Toyota Conquest in 2017 and 2018 has died. She was 84.

In a Facebook post, her children confirmed her death on Monday morning. They said their “darling mother” was an inspiration to so many.

“We are thankful that she went without pain, at home, at her time, and that she wasn’t taken by Covid-19. To all of her loyal followers, thank you so much: you brought her so much joy & I know she would want all of you to follow your dreams & travel your best journeys,” they said in their post.

Albu became a social media sensation when she started her Cape-to-Cairo quest in June 2017. She came back to Cape Town in February 2018.

Speaking to TimesLIVE in February 2018, after completing the adventure, Albu said she decided to go it alone after none of her friends took up her offer to accompany her.

“People look at me in horror when I tell them I’m venturing forth across Africa in a 1997‚ 1600 Toyota Conquest with close to 400‚000km on the clock. But who else would I choose as my partner in crime?” she said at the time.

From Egypt, the car was shipped to Greece and Julia flew back home for a medical check-up.

She was reunited with her car, commencing the drive from Greece, through Albania, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Belgium, Holland and eventually arriving in London.

The total distance, Albu estimated at the time, was in excess of 20,000km.

My friend and I have both had many years with this engine.

Fairly sure it will end up being the carb or someone putting a vacuum hose on the wrong way around when they put it back together.

She used a 1600, probably 4AF (unless injected then 4AFE).
Sheer luxury.
Cannot imagine doing that 12000km with a 2E. Sure it'll last. But your patience might not.
