Toyota Corolla headlights not working

So, yesterday afternoon, I realised that the lights suddenly doesn't turn on, on my 2003 Toyota Corolla.

While I wait for Monday to take the car in to an Auto Electrician, I thought I'd spend some time to try trouble shoot - and perhaps learn more about cars cause I'm an absolute n00b.

My discoveries so far -

When I turn the lever to switch on the lights, my speedometer dashboard's backlights go on and and shows the lights are on, so that is working, indicating that the lever is functioning.

When I pull the lever back, the brights work fine.

When I push the lever to the front that would keep the brights on, nothing happens.

Anyone ever had something similar happening?

I had something vaguely similar on a Opel Astra. It turned out to be a faulty fuse only.

Are the bulbs fine? Do you have a multimeter to check they're getting power?

Try identify the headlight relay, maybe there is another matching spec relay that you can swop it out with to test.

So here's the fuse box.

By the look of things, only the bottom two blue 15v ones are headlight related.

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong place, but couldn't find a relay related to the headlights.

Not sure about the Corolla, but it could very well be the bulbs. Some either have 2 filaments in one bulb or some cars have 2 bulbs.
