Note; the first Toyota Company did the service and is carrying out the breakdown repairs, the second Toyota Company is where my RAV was taken to first, after the breakdown, then I had it transported back to the first Toyota Company.

1, My concerns are the manner in which the first Toyota Company handled the last service 19/06/2014, after I categorically stated my concern to the Service Adviser, Workshop Supervisor, and mechanic, that the red oil light was flickering.

Toyota made note on the Workshop Report stating “oil was less in the vehicle and sloggy“when the engine was drained, which supported their knowledge of my concern.

My other concern with the Workshop Report is how did the mechanic insure that he filled the engine with the correct amount of oil if there was slog (sloggy) in the sump?

If Toyota had notified me that corrective action was necessary to correct the red light, I would have given the go ahead, as I did with the windscreen repair when Toyota phoned me and reported chips on the windscreen, “I gave the go ahead”.

When fetching my RAV after the service, I was told by both the foreman and the mechanic that the engine was low on oil although the dipstick was indicating full; the explanation was that when the oil gets slogged, it blocks the dipstick pipe giving wrong dipstick oil levels.

When booking in the RAV for the breakdown at the second Toyota I was told by the workshop foreman that when the oil gets slogged it blocks the oil pump pick which will starve oil to the engine and cause the red light to come on, and the corrective action is to remove the sump and oil pump to clean, flushing was not an option to clean the sump and oil pump.

2, There is a discrepancy in the date and kilos for the service;
Service Schedule, service date is 18/06/2014, and kilos 207147.
Job Instruction Form, service date is 19/06/2014, and kilos 236973.

3, On the 8/05/2015 the service manager said that he would investigation the last service regarding the workshop foreman and the mechanic not taking action to the red light concern I mentioned when booking in for the service and to date I’m still waiting for a report.
4, Toyota did not writing down my concerns when booking in my RAV for a service which seems to be the trend at Toyota.
5, When booking in the RAV for the breakdown I asked the Service Adviser for a workshops report the reason why the engine failed, to date this report is still outstanding.
6, I have photos of the SLOG and the BLOCKED OIL PUMP PICKUP!
7, I was advised by the second Toyota Company that the aluminum engine block could not be re-bored; First Toyota Company is having it re-bored and rebuilt.

Hi

I have looked into the quoting of the engine repair, we have had engineers out to listen to the engine and they confirmed that those aluminum blocks cannot be re-bored hence the quote for the complete engine.

The Service Manager from the First Toyota Company said he would strip the RAV engine and get the best price for renewal.
8, I have a comprehensive day to day recorded notes demonstrating my experiences of, visits/notes/e-mails/concerns, with the Two Toyota Companies.
9, I have requested Toyota to ensure me in writing one year warranty on all repairs carried out.
10, Toyota,
OUR PLEDGE TO YOU,

We honour our commitment to you?
We provide sound advice?
We will always keep you informed?
We provide quality technical expertise?
We value your input?
We strive to strengthen our relationship with you?
J Toyota touch
NOTE: - all the above pledges have been ignored!
11, I have all supporting documentation and photos of the service and the blocked oil pump pickup grid and the slog in the sump taken at Toyota on the day it was striped.

NOTE; To date I’ve have not heard from the first Toyota Company’s Dealer Principal, to whom I sent my concern Friday last week.

could someone help how to post a photo in detail from a folder on my computer?
I don't know what a URL is.

Surely they filled the engine with the correct amount of oil as part of the service? If they let you leave with an engine that "was low on oil" after a service, I'm pretty sure they will also have told you to bring it back so that they could clean out the sludge? If they didn't, they should have.

Hi Coline62

Can you help me load photos from a folder onto my thread

When you reply to the thread, you'll see a Go Advanced button next to the Post Quick Reply button. Click the Go Advanced button. Once the page has re-loaded you should see a Manage Attachments button below the text editing window. Click that. That'll open a pop-up window. On the top right click on Add Files, then Browse. Select the file and the click Open, and then click Upload. You can select and upload more than one picture. When you've uploaded them, go to the bottom right and click Done. This closes the pop-up window. When it's closed, you can click Preview Post if you want to see what it'll look like, and when you're happy click Submit Reply.

I googled slog and came up nada.

A flush would have helped. Esp if they ran the engine. I feel your pain. I wish you well trying to hold someone accountable for a repair bill on a car with over 200K.

If you bought the car from Toyota. You may have better luck.
I recommend you look at the goodwill angle. Toyota is one of the better companies wrt to goodwill claims.

You could look here

What is the car worth? The engine rebuild will be costly. Is it economical to fix?

My MIL has not serviced her new car yet. It is now 1,5 years old and has not had the first service. I tried to explain the 1y or 15000km service, but she insists she has done only 7500km. I tried to explain the warranty might be voided. No luck, she said 'it has a 3 year warranty and the car is only 1.5 years old'

After hours of arguing, I said thanks for the meal and off I went. She is going to call her son. Wife says I am being a jerk cos I can not convince her to service the car.

I would use my experience as it seems that the sludge forms when the vehicle stands for long periods no oil changes.

I tried to post some photos of the oil pump pickup grid which is ?70% blocked and one with the sludge in the sump after Toyota stripped the engine.

I'm struggling to post photos at the moment???

Ok wait... did you leave the vehicle to stand for months on end and are trying to blame this on Toyota?
