Hey guys

Have this car over a year Runx 160 rs bought second hand but giving me a few problems already.
First was the pistons , then then had to replace teh chain now it sounds liek the tappets.
Making a real bad noise.

So i was thinking of just replacing teh engine as definately wont get my money worth if i sell,
Mikes place quotes me more or less R6000 for fit and teh engine (not sure if the guy is sucking out from his thumb)
but was thinking of replacing with a 160rx instead.

Any suggestions of what i should expect and if this should be worthwhile?
also any good contacts that you would recommend.

Is that labour AND engine or just labour? I wouldn't buy a second hand motor that cheap.

That's not very good for a toyota engine, they usually last much long than that.

Most engines last very long if they are looked after but seeing how a lot of South African's drive it's no wonder they pack up before 200,000 km.

True. One should easily get at least 300k out of a toyota engine before minor things needs replacement.

Its a RunX, ofcoz it was hammered. I have personaly bought a engine at Mikes Places, it was B20B Honda engine, we done all the labour ourselves though. Engin cost R4500 last year, no problems thus far and the guy driving the car really gives it a beating.

Are his engines imports or rebuilds?

No offence...but this is just horrendous!

Japanese imports yes, you also get a one month unlimited mileage warranty.

I wouldn't trust a jap engine, hell I wouldn't even take 1 for free if you gave it to me. The japs don't believe in servicing their vehicles etc hence why jap cars are so cheap. Worked in a huge fleet division and trust me.....the japs will hand back a lease vehicle after a year and you would think this 1 year old vehicle is 5-6 years old.....they run them into the ground! Don't say I didn't warn you.

Did you know it is against the law in Japan to have a motor in your vehicle that has done more than 100 000 KMs?

When a car in Japan has reached 100 000 KM, the motor is swapped out with a new one and importers such as Japan Auto buy them and get sold to us.

We recently bought a Toyota Corolla 1.8 engine from them, that engine was in perfect condition, it even had a sticker of the KM when the engine was removed (it was in Chinese but there were numbers)
