So the TP Link MR3420 supports WDS for "seamless bridging to extend your wireless network"; but I am struggling to get it to work.

I bought a new Belkin N300 as it was at a good price to be the main modem/router. My PC is not close enought to my phone jack so instead of buying a wi-fi dongle for my PC i thought i could connect it to the Belkin using the TP Link as a "bridge". Belkin is connected to the phoneline and PC is connected to the TP Link.

Now i follwed the instructions on the TP Link for WDS but no joy
Enable WDS - Check this box to enable WDS. With this function, the Router can bridge two or more WLANs. If this checkbox is selected, you will have to set the following parameters as shown below. Make sure the following settings are correct

which i follow giving the Belkin's SSID and password.

Doesnt work, so I follow some advice from Googling and disable DHCP on the TP Link and set the default IP not be 192.168.1.1 whhich shouldnt matter cause the Belkin defaulted to 192.168.2.1

Wont work and all Windows sees is an unidentified network with no internet.
Belkin is working on its own and i can connect my iPad to it just fine.

Any advice?

Hi There Carnajo,
I put this up on my Tech site. It seems from your description that you have done everything right. However just make sure that the WiFi channels do not overlap and that you have put the same SSID in the Belkin as you have in the TP Link.

Let us know how you get on.

Regards Tim
