I'm using it to create a wifi hotspot with the 8ta 10gig deal - have gone down this path as I think Telkom adsl is BS and my needs are perfectly sufficed with what I have.

So am using the Black Cell C Huawei modem and I am very happy as I regularly get 5mb down but it does battle to get decent upload speeds - usually around 1mb.

As for the WiFi, I have a small place so it doesn't give me too much of grief there.

I've had a really great experience with the older version of the 3420. It locks up occasionally, if you push torrents over it- I think it struggles a little with many tcp connections over wifi at the same time. It doesn't do it often but it's my 1 and only gripe with this router so I thought its worth mentioning.. Overall though its by far the best home router I've used. The software is straight-forward and in terms of support, the latest firmware update has fixed some of the smaller issues I've noticed. I would definitely take it over a Billion or Netgear just in terms of ease of use. The fact that its half the price of those brands makes it a no brainer.

What to do

<<<BUMP>>>
Tried mailing the suppliers & manufacturers with little success.

We connected the K5006-Z LTE to a TP-Link TL-MR3020 today and after a firmware update it actually identified the K5006. Unfortunately it is a vodafone K5006 so we suspect it locked out the CellC sim we put in it.

I am also looking at getting the K5006-Z to work with the TL-MR3420 or maybe the dgn2200m. I am just not too sure which is the best way to go?

Any ideas?

Hi people

I am planning to use the TP-Link MR3420 and a Huawei E353 to create a LAN in my home with direct access to the net. I would prefer to "hide" the unit inside a cupboard somewhere. I have two questions; what is the normal "broadcast" range of this router and how severely is the signals affected by having to travel through brick walls?

Regards
Marius

Currently using one on 3G failover mode (WAN Preferred). Works like a charm.

I have not experimented much with reception, but at 8 meters through 2 walls Wi-Fi analyzer was at -80dbm (poor with no throughput) and putting it on a DVD spindle improved it to -65 to -70dbm.

Would love to put it on a central location at home but my 3G dongle needs to be at the window for best reception and long usb cables were flaky with the occasional disconnect due to higher voltage losses.
