TP-link TD-W8960N ADSL router Remote access

Hey guys,

I need some help with the above router to do the following:

Allow remote access to the router
Get my dynamic DNS working (DynDNS.com)
and allow remote access to my Apexis J011 wireless IP camera.

I've tried to to put in the setting for port triggering etc and have added the DynDNS settings to the router but I still cant access it remotely.

Any advice would be hugely appreciated

Port triggering is different from port forwarding!

Make sure that your IP camera has a static IP address, and that it has the TP-Link's LAN IP address as its gateway.

Then check that you've port forwarded to the camera.

Ya I know that they are different but I just want to be able to access my IP camera remotely when its connected to my router via a lan cable. I'd like to aslo be able to access my router but its not very important. I've tried but I just cant get the right combination of settings...

If it has the same Admin web interface as my dad's TP-Link WR841N, which I assume it has, then you can allow remote administration from outside, by:
1) Changing the password under System Tools -> Password
2) Setting the Remote Management IP Address to 255.255.255.255 under Security -> Remote Management
3) Rebooting the router

Now you should be able to access your TP-Link ADSL modem from outside. Please just take note that you might not be able to test the DynDNS address from your own ADSL connection, unless you're creating another PPPoE connection from your PC.

What port & protocol did you forward for the camera?

Also, did you make sure that the IP camera's default gateway is correct? Like the IP camera should have Internet access, otherwise you won't be able to make the Port Forwarding work.

I'm not sure which port to forward for the IP camera? I always choose TCP/UDP(both) just in case

Port Forwarding for RTSP does not work, or at least I wasn't able to get it working when I was working with IP cameras (and ZoneMinder).

I had to use a VPN to view my camera feeds. There is a chance that you can simply port forward like TCP port 81 (WAN) to TCP port 80 (Camera IP), but it is preferable to use the same port for WAN & LAN - eg. 80 to 80.
If you're going to port forward TCP port 80, then you need to change your Remote Administration port to something else, like port 8080.

Ok I see... I'll give it a try with port 80 because it the IP camera doesn't specify which port to use for remote access...

Ok I figured out the issue. Turns out it was the prots. Changed them and it works like a charm. Next step is to get the wireless up and running
