anyone useing it and how good is it

i got a trendnet 658 and its unstable and dropping connection

I have one. Using it to handle my home media.
Use it as modem and a switch. handles 3 permanently connected pc's , one acting as media server, 2 clients. and then 2 wireless devices also media streaming clients.
no complaints.

I have one of them.

Does pretty well, handles all my media streaming from my PC on the 5GHZ network, then i have two Pc's, 3 phones, 2 TV's connected to it. Never seems to miss a beat, can stream HD from about 40m away, while i play online with no issue.

But do you mean dropping connection as in your ADSL, or as in WiFi ? If its the ADSL it might be your line, and not the router.

i did some reading and everyone (mostly) that use trendnet router have that problem
its all over the place (this forums)

its the only router i could found localy and my old router died after about 6years

so had no choice

my line is good,cuz when i reboot it it works good for a wile then just drops/dies ----- reboot---- all works good again

i cant afford a new router atm but,looking for a great option,so when i get money i will buy one

I have one as well, use it for my home media. Streams HD content very well with no hiccups at all. Plus I got mine at R1150

I have the 8970 for a month now. Best move I made. Dropped my old crapgear like a cow patty.

I've got a W8980 and it has been performing flawlessly. One oddity I haven't sorted out is how to save the rules I have to open ports for my torrents. On every restart the rules disappear. That takealot price is exceptional!
