TP-Link WiFi adapter not working with Linux (Solved!)

Been using a Linksys wireless adapter without any problems but I just bought the TP Link
WN722N adapter for the high gain and bigger range but the thing does not work with KUBUNTU. Does anyone have any ideas?

What chipset does it use? An lsusb should show you, then you can install the necessary driver. Once you know what chipset it uses, google is your friend.

It use the Atheros chipset. I've looked but it's all very confusing. If I find the right driver will it just detect the adapter like it did the Linksys?

Post the lsusb results here. I'm not the most experienced linux user here, but might be able to help. There are others here who will almost certainly be able to help.

I suspect that this is the driver you're looking for:

http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k_htc

Sorry, don't have time to search for a proper "how to" atm. Just keep in mind that you'll have to install the driver and probably the firmware as well.

BTW - the chipset is an AR9271

So... I found a TP-Link TL-WN553AG PCI Wireless card at the Hillfox Flea Market. Installed it ...nothing. Upgraded to Kubuntu 10.04 and Bam!!
Wireless came to life!!! So CHUFFED!!!

Thanks to all the guys who tried to help. Very happy with Linux so far. Am just about ready to hit DELETE on the Windows partition.
