TP Link Wireless Dongle not detecting?

I downloaded this configuration tool, but when I try to run it it says, "please plug in a wireless network adapter".

any idea what to do?

What are your pc specs?Sorry, seen in sig, is that still relevant? Also OS?

Im trying to get this thing to work in linux.

Windows 8.1

Device shows up like this in Device Manager. Couldn't manually install the drivers either.

nope, it just installs. There's no prompts.

Format -> install W10, Windows 8/8.1 is top kuk.

I installed some TP Link WIFI adapter on my W10 machine, doesnt even need drivers, it auto installed it without internet.

Yeah I plugged it into my w10 PC and it worked immediately.

Frustrating, I don't want to format everything just for a frickin R200 dongle to work.

Yeah that should just work out the box, screw Windows 8.
