nothing's wrong with that traceroute.

the router at [196.25.55.178] doesn't reply to traceroute requests and also blocks any further traceroute requests passing through it. so that's as far as it will go.

I'm trying to figure out why I get 500+ms pings on pingtest.net to various locations.

There seemed to be congestion on some part of the MWeb or Telkom local circuits on Sunday evening. Seems a lot better this morning.

See the existing thread Bad Latency on MWeb. This also indicates sites to run tracert on (NOT mweb.co.za).
