Tracker Care vs Netstar Early Warning

We, as brokers won't deal with insurers that act in that way, but yes it has and continues to happen and especially on insurer installed trackers but also on self installed.
And the courts actually accept that info, even if it was gained illegally? Weird, I wouldn’t have expected that.

I’m with Naked Insurance, hopefully they’re not one of the insurers you refer to.

Most claim disputes go to the Ombad..................

I only deal with corporate insurances and our personal dept don't do business with the one mentioned by you and wouldn't. I don't believe they do broker business in any event.

Lol you’re so guarded in your speech. What does “and wouldn’t” mean? Why not … apart from them not doing broker business?

Do you know what the word "intermediary" means?

Yeah? Now go look at the disclaimer at the back of your Naked schedule. What is the exact word they say they are?

Guarded for a reason
As a FSP the FAIS states you cannot "slate" another FSP

As they are a "UMA", and yes very innovative, we would not put them on a preferred suppliers list as they are judged purely on bottom line and as history shows if they have a bad year the whole book normally gets punished and not just the individuals -broad brush approach.

We, traditional underwriters, prefer to act only on "bad clients". A UMA is under contract to the "Mother Insurer" to produce a certain profit and if this is not achieved then they tend to act erratically thereby punishing the innocent as much as the guilty. One also sees this with very large insurers with poor systems and lack of mechanisms to filter out the bad risks and especially when there is no broker to fight for the clients individuality.

Have 7 vehicles with tracker, super happy no issues whatsover. Get calls should the vehicle be in a dangerous area due to detours, sms's get sent if the battery has been disconnected and im happy with both the app and the web app.

Devices get tested often and if there is a defect they offer to come to you to replace the device.

That’s very insightful, that’s all I wanted. Thanks for the explanation.

Steady on tiger … “wouldn’t” isn’t the same as “can’t”. Hemi clearly defined both, so that means he had an extra reason I was interested in. And he shared it above.

So today I got my Netstar Early Warning system installed ... I'm pretty impressed :) The installation guy had a Netstar-branded bakkie and was very professional (some of the Tracker installation guys I've dealt with in the past have been unbranded guys)

Installation took the guy more than an hour, so he was definitely doing SOME big stuff. At the end of it he just handed me the keyfob to attach to my key ring (and a spare one), which automatically disarms the unit in the vehicle, as well as a remote with a panic button (he also offered the option to have a panic button installed into the vehicle instead but I felt the remote option provided more flexibility).

Installation certificate was automatically e-mailed to me as the guy left, and I could register on the app and my car was immediately showing up on it. Used the app on my mobile to set up a geo-fence around my home and alerts for extra safety.

Bottom line: it all works exactly like it's meant to (so far). Which is nice, ya know? Coz often it doesn't.

Who do you contact to have the unit tested? We have a new Tracker Care unit installed which we suspect is discharging the battery overnight. Replaced two batteries in the last two months.

So, after a long battle with Tracker, Tracker changed both new tracking units that were drawing more than they should have been drawing. Issue solved.
