I want to subscribe to Tracker but am getting different prices from the call centre when phoning in an enquiry.
I bought a vehicle with a Retrieve unit already in from the previous owner.
I am insured with M & F.
I pay via debit order from company account.
What should I be paying ?
Thanks all.
:confused::confused::confused:

yep R120 should be okay but watch out for those optional extras dat they might sell u as well.............

Tracker = +/- R157.00 p/m

If you're with outsurance and sign some dodgy 3yr contract with tracker you get a discounted price of R70 p/m.

I'm considering canceling my tracker considering my insurance premium will only increase by R10 p/m and if my car DOES get stolen and the engine driven in its moer in by the d00s who doesn't know how to drive to begin with, I wouldn't want it back anyway.

It took weeks to get the smell out of our last car when they tried to steal it.

Guys be weary, the great prices you see are for devices that work on RF(radio Frequency) signals. As u all know RF is old technology with less than great coverage with a not so good chance of recovery. I went for a small company called "Resource Tracking" because their service is good and the devices work on GPS signal so and i can check the location of my car and bike on my PC or iPhone at any time. to make it better i do get a discounted premium from my insurer and my monthly subscription is R140.00 which i can cancel if i want to as i am not bound into a contract.

Tracker Prices:

CASH OPTION

Retrieve - R1450 - R159/mo
Alert - R2200 - R 190 /mo
Skytrax Consumer - R2999 - R210/mo

FREE FITMENT - 36 mo Contract

Retrieve - R115/mo
Alert - R260/mo
Skytrax - R 292/mo

PREPAID OPTION 36 Months

Retrieve - R4420
Alert - R7860
Skytrax - R8700

Hope that answers your question :D

Do not go for the one that you have to phone in to find out where the car is, by then it is already too late, car got stolen in at work with such a device, hour later the person realized car is gone phone in but the tracker was already disabled. Pretty useless.

There is a model that alert you as soon as the car starts moving if you do not disarm it.

Have you treid asking the insurance company if they won't pay for it. My insurance company pays for my Tracker in my car. So not 100% sure what the premium is.

They don't actually pay for it, they simply offset your premium by the same amount that a Tracker is costing you.

I dont see the point of installing a tracking unit of the car is still financed by the bank... Unless insurance companies insist :(

I also wouldnt want the dustbag back if its stolen & recovered!

It is actually stipulated by the bank that finances you that you insure the car and if that involves fitting some sort of tracking device then you actually don't have a say in the matter.

I only saw the part about compulsory insurance. Need to double check my contract for the "tracking unit" part

they need to start fitting redundant tracking transponders now, i mean it seems as if all thieves know where tracker/netstar fit thier tracking radios.

Tracker and Netstar charge the same, so it's up to you to either contact one or the other - basically whichever system floats your boat :)
