Tracking device saves hijack victims from execution

Johannesburg - A hijacker was shot and killed during a shoot-out with police just before he and his accomplice were about to execute their victims in a field in Tshepisong, Soweto on Wednesday, police said.

Two men were driving a white Toyota Avanza with goods they had bought at White City when they were hijacked and driven to Tshepisong, police spokesperson Captain Tsekiso Mofokeng told News24.

He said police found the men after receiving a distress signal from the car's tracking device.
