This is probably going to sound like a real blonde question, but what is the difference between the two?

Forever is free, and limited to the Stadium track and cart-like racer.

United is payware (~R300), has something like 30 different vehicles, and a ridiculous amount of tracks of different types.

Only partially right...
Nations Forever is for free, with some limitations (number of buddies, stadium track, etc.)
United costs R90 these days
United Forever is a free upgrade to United and can be downloaded locally
..or you can pay R270 for the retail United Forever
