I know it's not technically a PC gadget but it works with a smart phone so I think it's permissable I guess in this section.

Who have you have purchased this and what do you think of it?

I bought the precursor to this one via the kickstarter/indigogo campaign. What a rubbish piece of kit, never works right.
Only thing it ever did right was work as a coaster, and reused the batteries elsewhere.

Coaster for shot glasses? :erm:

My experience as well, thankfully was a freebie. was pretty poor. would not recommend it.

The bravo version of these looks pretty cool

Wonder where to source some in ZA?

don't these things use bluetooth, so your range is something like a massive 30 meters....... l

I have just received mine and am playing with it at the moment.
It uses other TrackR users (and surprisingly, there seem to be quite a few users in S.A.) to pinpoint where last your TrackR was "seen". Once you get closer it uses Bluetooth to locate.
I bought mine mainly to locate missing keys... and when I lose my car or motorbike in a busy parking lots :)

I have ordered 3 from TrackR. Actually ordered 2 months ago. DHL brought the package all the way to ORTIA and then sent them back to the manufacturer because they were "unclaimed at customs".
They've been dispatched again and now I wait...

Took 2.5 months for mine to get here. Then had to collect from post office :wtf:

What's the battery life like, they use low power Bluetooth 4?

so how is it working for you?

It works on a mesh network. So if you have a few trsckr's in the house, it should work everywhere.

I bought 4 and gave 3 away as presents. The one died on me after 5 months.

Finally received my TrackR Bravos today. 3 of them. Have sync'd them to my device and will be playing with them tonight. Plan to hide 2 of them in cars so as to get an alert if there is a separation from device and cell (ie if the car gets stolen at night while I'm at home asleep) and the last one in SO's purse. Will update.

Apparently these are complete rubbish, read the reviews of Amazon. Apparently Trackr has been engaging in some review manipulation, so the glowing reviews you may have read earlier were concocted..

Works for the intended purpose that I got mine for. Early warning if somebody moves or (touch wood) steals my classic mini. Cars parked 11mtrs from where I sleep. If the TrackR and my phone go out of range - I get an alarm on my phone. As far as tracking in on a grid if it were ever to be stolen... We'd need more than the 738 nearby users currently in JHB for it to be effective.

Well let us know how they work out, apparently the batteries sometime drain really fast so keep an eye on that.

Good concept, hopefully the bugs have/will be ironed out.
