Kuruman - The owner of a tractor that can - at a push - go 30km/h, has been given a R400 fine for speeding.
The tractor was "caught" doing 94km/h on the road between Kuruman and Danielskuil.
To top it all, says Jim de Villiers, he'd at the time been using the Massey Ferguson to cut lucerne on his farm - 700km away at Noupoort.
De Villiers got the fine in the mail when he returned from holiday. "A most unpleasant surprise," he said.
"I called the traffic department and they admitted that it was a mistake. They said they'd scrap the fine."
Volksblad repeatedly tried to reach the municipal manager of the Ga-Segonyana Municipality at Kuruman, but he was not available.
The head of the traffic department is not authorised to speak to the media.
