Tractor paper and modern printers?

Hi there,

Silly long shot question here. The company I work for still uses the old tractor paper with those holes on either side which feeds through a large printer with ink ribbon. The paper is approximately double width of an A4.

These things print sloooooooow but it is still a requirement as some customers still prefer this means of statements and what not.

So I was wondering...are there any decent modern alternatives which can still print on the same type of wide paper in the same way but doesn't cost an arm and a leg? A quick google search doesn't bring up much and I am just wondering if anyone else uses this. A wide laserjet or deskjet with tractor paper feeder...do these exist? ... are they capable of printing the same dimensions and are compatible with as400?

normally you use that type of printer/paper combo so you can do duplicate or triplicates in one pass..like, pink/yellow and white copy. quite often a requirement for invoices/accounts

laserjets and injkets cant do this. they do not strike the paper with any force...

I know what you mean but fortunately the paper I use is only 1 sheet with no duplicate. I suppose they are catering for the majority though who do use duplicates.

It's a pain printing more than 300 pages and waiting from 8am to 3pm for it to finish and in between the thing keeps jamming or the paper track is broken or whatever

Spooling print jobs from as400 doesn't make it any easier lol
