Are there any reputable stores where one can trade in a laptop for a new one?

I have a laptop but need a bigger/faster/better one and was hoping to trade this one in. I obviously do not expect thousands of rands for it, but I'd rather get a few rands discount on a new one than have this one sit at home, unused.

Thanks :)

Once a while Incredible Connection has trade in specials, but the most you can expect is R1500.00. The bonus is that the laptop doesn't even have to work.

They normally do the trade in specials during February.

So you can, for example, take out the RAM and hard drive and then trade it in? Seeing as how the machine doesn't even have to work?

as far as i know the item doesn't have to work when taking to incredible on those promotions, however i think removing components is another story, i would say if the laptop has say 2 x 1GB ram chips and you remove one, fair enough but i dont think you can remove both.

Aunty and granny took some older laptops to Incredible last time... one was fully functional, 3 years old, the other was a lightning struck 4 year old brick. The aunty with the brick got R500 off a netbook, granny was offered R500 off a new laptop... decided against it... could sell it for more.

Granny is still using the old thing.

Sooooo, it may be better to sell it, depending on condition and specs... maybe Incredible will be more generous with their trade-in amounts this time ?
