Traffic demerit system on the way?

Bugger... does that mean I'll have to get a license now? :D
 
They have been threatening to do this for more than 4 years now. I dont see it coming into effect anytime soon anyway there are too many different traffic departments and no communication between them I had a fine from JHB Metro and went to a traffic dept in the Vaal triangle to pay they couldnt even tell me if there was a fine on the vehicle or my name they had none on record.

maybe they hadn't emailed "southafricanregistereddrivers.xls" through to the other department yet?
 
everytime you get caught you can swear out load and say 'Oh no, dermert'

haha, i know the 'i' is missing.
 
it sounds like a very lax system.....loads of leeway really compared to us poor motorists in europe:-(
 
Obviously you can just pay a spot fine instead of the de merit points...
 
Still wont solve unroadworthy vehicles and people that dont use their indicators, because they still will focus on people speeding...

Is a BMW designed in such a way that its indicator lever is very hard to operate?
 
BMW is a *** car. Indicators don't work. The car turns/veers unpredictably. The accelerator seems stuck in one of two positions: very fast or stop. there is two settings for the lights: off and brights. Probably the most alarming feature of the car is it's ability to shake off its number plates - both of them.

I wish they would introduce the same speed camera ideas from the UK here. The cops here hide in bloody bushes and you only slow down after its too late and you get a thick fine which could well be spent on a good cause like beer for the month!

If they painted them yellow and let people know where they are then peeps wouldn't speed.

my 2 cents...

I think it is a very good idea. Obviously the enforcement will need to follow but its about time SA road users started obeying rules.

Now I am just waiting for the people to bitch and moan that their licence is suspended and their is no public transport. Easy solution... Stop driving like idiots.

I ride a bike and the amount of bad driving I see on a daily basis is scary.

NEWSFLASH: No you cannot drive and talk on the cellphone perfectly well. When on the cellphone you drive like a ducks @ss and cause mayhem,... This includes YOU
