Has anyone else battled with traffic over the last week and a bit?

I'm not sure if it's because we don't have waterproof traffic lights or what the reason is - but it's taken me betweenm 1h 30 and 2hrs to get to work, which is 17km away! The absolute worst is trying to get out my suburb (Randpark Ridge) which takes about 40 minutes alone ... and is 3km.

Exactly why I leave at 5:30 in the morning and 3pm in the afternoon ... took me 20 minutes from Centurion to Sandton this morning

i stay in same area and have also noticed a huge increase in travel times this year...
really really hoping its the weather

Only in JHB can that happen :p Here in CPT it rains cat's and dogs and the only reason the traffic lights will stop working is because the electric cable has been stolen. lmimc :D. I wish it does happen in CPT but I am sure it has NOTHING to do with water seeping into the traffic lights or better said I hope so.

Yes it has been k@k .I have been using the bike every day since the schools opened (rain or sun shine) because by car it takes half an hour to get down the road.

Today I tried the car again and it took 30 min to get aroung the block , to get the bike.

Traffic in Cpt is also pretty bad at the moment. Will be quicker to cycle to work (12km), but we don't have showers, so it will be a LONG day for my co workers :D

Hey I drive 37km to the office and it takes me all of 30 minutes :D BUT I must add that I only START at 11am :p and leave the office at 18h00 aaahhhhh CPT nothing beats it

Being new to jhb the mindset of the people over year confuses me...

Yesterday it took me close to an hour to drive the 10km to UJ, becuase half of empire road is now rubble!! What I assume used to be 3 or 4 lanes in some spots is now a single lane. And more robots are out than working. Why???

That robot NEVER works, last year it was even worse in that section!!
I HATE empire and smuts.....

working in town this week....only worse traffic was midrand..

That robot?? I passed I think it was four robots that were all out! Only the very last one before UJ was working. And the one at the UJ parking lot is also a stop street now

You should come drive out her in the country side. Most towns have stop signs hanging from half their robots. Over here you don't just stop and drive off, you look for outa townies who may t-bone you racing through the crossing.
It's like a demolition derby out here I tell you!!

dude ! i got the same problem in the same area ! i'm roughly 15km away from work but it takes me an hour and a half these days... traffic has been hectic this new year ! i think there are more people up here in jozi looking\starting jobs etc ...
