Tragic consequence of texting while driving

Some a-hole just about crashed into me yesterday trying to use a circle and fiddling on his phone at the same time...

Guy in the middle lane of Cape Rd the other day was staring down at his phone (don't know if he was texting or watching a video) and veering all over the place for about a km - totally oblivious to the hooting from left and right

I had this woman behind me slam on brakes this past week during rush hour traffic - obviously never noticed that traffic stopped in front of her. I heard the screech, as she stopped inches away from me. I made sure watched her for the rest of the journey.

Her face was down glued to her phone the whole time! She hardly ever looked up to see what's in front of her.

I saw this guy on the R21, before the Kindle made it to S.A.:

It gets me so angry when I see people texting and driving, both arms on the steering, but phone clutched in the hand and busy texting away. Stupid *******s

I am guilty of the occasional text message while driving. I mostly try to only type at red robots, but when I'm driving far I'll also type then, few chars at a time.
I know it's dangerous and I'm really trying to stop. I've downloaded this app that blocks my phone as soon as it's moving faster than x km/h. I'm going to activate it now!

More recently I started to browse the MyBroadBand and MyGaming forums on tapatalk during traffic in the mornings - it spares me the frustration to see what the taxi's do...

I'm also guilty of texting at traffic lights when standing still :o

Trying to cut it out totally, making progress.

I don't answer my phone when driving, neither do I pull off to answer it. It can wait. The highway is not a safe place.

I like the picture for that article.
They want to convey the dangers of texting and driving; so they get a young girl to do just that, and look like she's having a ball doing it. It's more like an advert TO text and drive.

When hands-free became the law I have to admit, I was a little rebel for a while... Now, virtually 100% of the folks I see doing dumb-ass shyte on the road have a phone firmly clutched to their ear and it drives me crazy. Texting is a whole new level if silly 'tho. Seriously, if it absolutely can't wait, pull over or stop at a garage. The life you save could be mine.

throw your phone in the boot, connect a wireless Bluetooth headset, then you can only make and receive calls handsfree

I almost got out of my car to tell the lady behind me on the N1 to please stop using her phone because if she does crash into me I'm going to sue her for everything that she's got.

Just as I was contemplating it she changed to the middle lane.

If all the hairdressers, makeup artists, news readers and mobile phone users could just go do so in the left lane we could all get to work in half the time.
