Hi Guys

I am running regularly these days and looking for a running watch. What would you guys say is the best mid range running watch. I currently have the Apple Watch and while it works fine I would prefer something a bit more focussed on running.

Thanks

Garmin Forerunner 235 is an excellent watch for the money.

I have looked at that. Seems nice. I also had a look at the Vivoactive HR and the TomTom Adventurer

My requirements are that the GPS should be built in and I need long battery life. The Apple Watch gives you about 5hours when you use both the GPS and HR, which is a bit too short

If you looking for a mid level watch go Polar M400. That is great and has loads of functionality. I currently have both the v800 and the m400 ( m400 is for my wife). if I had to replace mine I would get M400. Battery life is long with GPS and bluetooth heart rate belt. You can also get some HR monitors which dont need a belt but they are not as accurate.

@PrinceVlad I just asked a friend who's a serious runner, I know he tested quite a few watches in the past. His latest is a Garman Forerunner 235. I told him I'm getting a Apple Watch, he said he also considered one, but chose to go with the Garman.
So far he is very happy, he says with using it as a full smartwatch all day and at least a hour of GPS use every day, he gets 5 days of battery life.

I can second the M400. Don't really use it for running (I don't like running) but I use it for squash, touch rugby and cycling and the battery is still 25-33% left after a 4-5 hour cycle with the chest HR strap and GPS on.

I've had a couple of watches I've used in ultras and marathons (polar, suunto as Garmin). I've had a forerunner 230 now for a couple of months and it's excellent. I'm OK with using the heart rate strap so didn't need the 235. Bought it off Amazon and bang for buck it's really really good.

Look at the Suunto Ambit3. Battery life of 15 hours

I hated my 2S, was rated for 12 hours but it died every time I did oceans with it. This was after I had reduced the GPS frequency or whatever they called it.

The Garmin watches and ecosystem on a whole is just more solid in my opinion. I currently have a TomTom but will buy Garmin if I need to replace it and looking for a dedicated training watch.
