Can someone give me step by step instructions how to make tramezinni?

How do you “toast” it?
When to put filling on (before or after you toasted it?)
Does anyone have a nice savory mince recipe?
Filling: Just mozzarella cheese & mince?

We use one of those big flat sandwich presses and basically make it like a toasted sarmie.

Heating Instructions
As heating temperatures of appliances vary, the following are guide lines only:

Oven Baking
Plae on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 8 minutes. until golden brown and heated throughout.
Sandwhich Toaster * Preferred Method
Grill in a sandwich toaster for about 5 minutes or until golden brown.
Braai
Braai over a moderate heat turning frequently until golden brown or wrap in tin foil and cook slowly whilst turning.
Griddle Pan
Brush tramezzini's lightly with olive oil. Place on a preheated griddle pan & grill, turning regularly over a moderate heat for about 6 minutes.

Thanks. I'm assuming the filling is already in?

Yip. They in the frozen food section at pick 'n pay.

Alternatively you can buy just the bread part in the bakery and then use your own fillings, but I don't see them that often.

I actually want to make it from scratch using those flour tortillas (Anant I think?). I don't like those frozen tramezinnis.

I normally get the smaller Tramezinnis and put in a normal pop-up toaster and when it is toasted you cut it open at the top and it will have an "air pocket" in the middle and then you put your filling in.

I'm partial to a chicken strip filling, but the mozzarella and mince sounds awesome, must try it

And they fit? That sounds easy enough.

What exactly goes into your chicken filling?

Mince Recipe:

1 Onion
1 Tomato
Teaspoon of garlic

Fry these until the onions are soft.

Add mince and cook through until its the gross grey brown clour.

Add 1 tin of tomato paste, some herbs (the itailian type) and some water.

Cook for 20min.

You can add some chilli flakes or Chutney if you desire.

Thanks. That is easy enough. I normally buy those packets of savoury mince mix but I don't actually like the taste of it anymore.

It can be quite creative process, but the basics is to sauté the chicken strips with your choice of herbs and then before you put it in maybe add a nice creamy white sauce maybe a little cheese and if you want diced potato cubes.

WARNING: Eating this can be a messy event:D

Now a more helpful note. In your "bolognese" I would reccommend adding some tomato pure or paste too. If all the tomato makes the mince to acidic just add a touch of sugar. I know it sounds gross but it's a generations old winning formula.

En güte! Bon appetit! Bon appetito! Chow down!!
