Has anybody else received alerts from Trans Union regarding credit enquiries? I received two this morning for Clothing and Cellular but trying to log on to MyTransUnion is worse than a government website, I checked Clear Score and it has zilch enquiries listed.

Clear score is not very good at clocking enquiries, Just Login to transunion and double check, You dont want to be dealing with fraud here.

All the bureaus will keep track of enquiries differently, and these are not automatically shared with the other bureaus.

ClearScore works with Experian which is not Transunion, so you'd likely need to see your Transunion credit report to see if there were indeed any enquiries.

I'll try again, this is how it went this morning...

Log on, notified that an OTP was sent to my email, wait 15 minutes and nothing so request new OTP. A few minutes later OTP's arrive, enter correct one eventually, asked to reset password which I do and get sent another OTP. Wait for OTP to arrive and enter it, asked to change password, again, which I now can't do because I changed my password in the last 5 days  Try to contact support via online forum which fails as I haven't filled iin all fields despite filling in ALL fields, so I found an email address and sent a 'displeased' email to which I have had zero response or even an ackowledgment...

Try calling them: 0861 482 482

If that doesn't work, try shouting at them on Twitter or Facebook: @TransUnionSA

Yeah i have to go through hoops to login too. In fact i think i have to deal with the call centre every time i want to login but it is worse the hassle.

Last year I got an alert from transunion, enquiry from Old mutual, I decided to check clear score but there was nothing, I didnt bother with transunion because I didnt want to deal with the hassle of logging in. anyways cut to this year I go to MTN to apply for a contract, I get declined. I obviously freak out coz i have pristine credit history. Turns out some chop tried getting a loan from an old mutual branch with my details so my ID was listed with the South African Fraud Prevention services. SO now everytime i apply for anything i HAve to contact SAFPs to give me a letter stating that I am ME and not a fraudster else i just get declined. IT is a schlep let me tell you.

Get it checked out now rather than later.

I have'nt had any SMS alerts. I do know that with Experian they might sent duplicate SMS for one credit check, checking on Clearscore will not show the potential queries as it uses a different bureau. It can be a bit difficult to log in into Transunion but give a try, call them if you have too. Its possible you might be a victim of some sort of fraud.

This is what I have done thus far...

Successfully contacted Truworths call centre and alerted them to the fact I have never applied for any of their financial products.
Have not been successful in contacting MTN's contact centre which doesn't seem to exist, sent them an email and message on Facebook.
Logged two disputes with Trans Union, one for the Truworths enquiry and one for the MTN enquiry on my credit profile.
Have not managed to get hold of the NCR call centre despite being on hold for around 15 minutes, after which the call was just cut off.

MTN sent feedback via FaceBook Messenger that they have no contract under my ID number but I will keep an eye on things and wait for the feedback from the two disputes I have logged with Trans Union.

Also check with SAFPS to see if MTN fraud department hasnt listed your ID with them.

It's ID fraud, at least you were subscribed and got alerts, I wasn't when it happened, by the time the useless shops started calling me there were multiple clothing accounts in my name, I still don't know why they never tried cellphone contracts. Banks to their credit were very vigilant because the fraudsters tried multiple times and I got called immediately when they tried.

It was a long and painful journey getting all that sorted, even now I still struggle opening accounts online. You should be fine as long as you have alerts and act on them immediately.
