Transcend vs Toshiba

Hey

I'm thinking of buying a external hard drive, i know Toshiba, but i don't know Transcend, but the deal is better with Transcend than Toshiba...

I don't know if Transcend is trustworthy...

Can someone please help

I have a Transcend, a Fujitsu, WD, Maxtor and Iomega and all are similar.
The Transcend is shock-proof they say.
(Seagate drive inside)

Transcend is in the memory business.
Toshiba is in the ... uhm... I don't know, I think they make toasters.

I'd take Transcend over Toshiba. None of them make the drive inside the unit anyway, but Transcend should know there stuff more than Toshiba.

Toshiba is more in memory business than Transcend. Toshiba also makes HDDs. Toshiba is one of the world's top 20 semiconductor makers.

But the 500GB USB powered Transcend I have, works very nicely. I was told it has a Seagate drive inside - 5400 RPM.

I'd say a Transcend. Been using the Transcend storemax 35 Ultra 1Tb, with ESATA. Love it.

Toshiba is also a good make but I'd still personally go to Transcend.
 
My only advice is to avoid RAID 0 external storage devices. I had a Big Disk Extreme 500GB from LaCie = 2x 250GB Maxtors, FW800/USB2, Oxford controller board. Piece of JUNK.

And that's LaCie - made in France, nogal. Avoid!!!

Transcend is one of the most top leading brands in South-Africa concerning
SS D's (solid state drives). And they are military drop, tested...
 
Guys, you know at the end I didn't really wanted to go for any of them, I went for a segate.. with it's 5 year warrentee.. really hard not to buy it.. ^ ^ And it comes with a free docking :)

Where did you buy yours from and how much was it?
 
What matters is what's inside the enclosure. Transcend does not manufacture hard drives and uses drives from the likes of Seagate, WD etc not sure which brand though. Toshiba does manufacture their own drives.

Best you google to see what Transcend uses.

(I'll take that into account next time when I need to get another one lol ><)
