I am hoping to get a new Samsung phone, and would like to transfer ALL data from my old phone to the new one. It seems that Smartswitch can do most of the data.
Does anyone have an Idiot (me) proof method? I want all of my apps to transfer.
There is also CLONEit??
Ta

The best would be whatever the manufacturer software provides. This is of course not helpful if you transfer from a different device such as Huawei to Samsung. But even then, it is a hit and miss.

Then there is Google that supposed to sync all apps across devices. But again. Hit and miss sometime. But generally works well.

There is Titanium Backup, phone needs to be rooted, its a backup tool, not sure how well it works to clone to new device. Haven't used it in a long time.

All my stuff are now saved in the cloud. When I get a new android phone and I log in with my account the first time. It asks to sync everything and you can select which apps or all of them.

Thanks. I've got a zillion apps, and really don't want to re-download them. I'll try Smartswitch (which is a Samsung app).
Cheers

I keep hearing about rooting, but don't know advantages/disadvantages. Also doing that would void the Warranty

Unfortunately only way to have complete access over a droid.

Start with Samsung's build in sync. I think it works pretty well. Haven't used it in a long time either as I switched to Xiaomi. But think it still needs to download the apps from the playstore when doing the synchronisation.

I anyways think it is not a good idea trying to clone or copy paste apps, specially to a different model device.

Smartswitch works very well for transfering form Samsung to Samsung form what I've seen.

Remember to backup whatsapp data before moving your sim to the new phone because this won't get transferred.

Oh yes very important what @Park@82 said. Make sure you backup WhatsApp, Google Authenticator, Nova Launcher etc.
Any in app data you would want to make sure is backup.

But you not gonna do something stupid and immediately wipe your existing device. You obviously gonna first check that everything is working well. ;)

Many thanks all. I've had some disasters over the years, so backup is a no-brainer!!!!!
