i don't know if this has been asked and answered before, i got an iPhone 15 and would want to transfer my esim for my contract from my iPhone 12. I tried MTN store at Cresta mall and they said i should call 135, 135 said i should go instore. I'm sure i'm not the first person to face this. How/where did you guys get help regarding this?

On the 15…

Settings/Mobile Service/Add eSIM/Transfer From Nearby iPhone

Thanks, I tried this but it gives an error after I enter the verification code. Says something like "incompatible sim"
Odd.

Question... Have you set up Passcode protection on the new phone? Need that working and the phone unlocked. Also need WiFi and Blutooth enabled.

If that's all good to go, I'm out of suggestions other than the iStore, rather than MTN, at Cresta.

did mine instore MTN - they cancelled the existing esim then issued a new esim that a scanned via camera to phone

thanks, which store was this if it was in Joburg. Looks like different store have different levels of compitencies.

Just go to MTN. Did this yesterday. It’s a sim-swap but on the screen they need to select eSIM. You need to help them through the process

They ended up doing a sim swap to a physical sim which I had to pay R190 for and then swap again to esim. They definitely need to train their staff on these things.

As far as I know it's not possible to transfer an esim. The old one has to be cancelled and a new one issued.

Try deleting the existing 1 on the 12 and scanning the old QR code on the 15

Nah, you shouldn’t have had to do so. Didn’t pay R190 for a physical sim. On the system, it gives them an option during the process to get a physical sim or eSIM for the sim swap.

They kinda scammed you but glad it’s sorted.

Shouldn’t be too full of myself I guess as Vodacom turned on OneNumber when I did the sim swap there which I still need to deal when I just needed an eSIM as well.
