hi. I urgently need your help.

How do you transfer data, music, photos, apps, calendars, address book etc from my iphone to my new macbook. i need everything on my iphone to go onto my macbook.

my flat got broken into - *****en w*ankers stoled my macbook, LCD tv, PS3, etc while my wife and I were in the next room. lucky for us we are ok and slept through the whole ordeal. i think those w*nkers gassed us or something. anyways crime in SA sux monkey balls!!

thankfully i got a new macbook. i dont have any time machine backups. silly me. will definitely use it now.

PLEASE help.

There's a rumor that they burn CD's while you sleep.then they got all the time in the world to steal your stuff. I don't know if it's true.

Yeah also heard a similar rumor.

I'm just glad we ok.

But now I need to start all over.

Okay, hook your phone up to your machine and open iTunes and iPhoto...

In iTunes, select your Phone and hit the "Info" button... Syncing your info will take care of your Address Book as well as Calendar. Then, click "File" in the menu bar and select "Transfer Purchases from *your name's* iPhone"... and that should sort out your apps.

You should be able to import your photos from your phone to your machine using iPhoto.

Importing music is a bit more tricky... You'll need to download and app for that... I've always used iRip but there are freeware apps like Senuti you can try...

Hope that helps a bit and good luck.

PS. Nearly forgot, you might need to authorise your machine in iTunes for iTunes to recognise the app you've bought and allow the sync...

greg0205, when you plug it into a new machine, at least in my experience, it doesn't want to talk to the iphone or ipod until you "initialize" (read: wipe) it. How do you get around that?

Hey koffiejunkie... I've never had that happen... I have been asked to "Activate" a phone in iTunes 'tho and that should have no effect whatsoever on the data on the phone. I've done a little checking and it looks like there is an activation dialogue which might have something to do with a disc error on your iPod or iPhone or the version of OSX you're running.

Thanx guys.

The iPhone reads on the new MacBook. I also managed to transfer all the apps. And I did a backup through iTunes by pressing ctrl click and using the backup option on the popup menu.

I thought all my stuff will automatically be loaded into iTunes after the backup, so I can sync again. But that wasn't the case. Only my apps appeared in itunes.

Please help again.
