Hi dunno if anyone can help with this, I have Vista x64 OEM installed on my PC. I want to transfer this to a 80GB INtel X25. The problem I have is even after uninstalling everything none OS and removing all downloads etc my PC still shows that there is about 160GB on the old hard drive. Does anyone have any ideas.

Well dude you need to go find the 160gb, so go right click and select properties on the files on the hdd and identify where the 160gb is located.

Windows folder could be 20gb. Check programs files and see how much that comes to.

We cannot tell where it is you need to go and find it.

Thats just the thing i cant find it, I add it all up and get to around 60 gigs. Max. It wouldnt be a swapfile would it?

Have you done a Disk Cleanup? Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> Disk Cleanup -- select your C drive
Most items can be removed (don't compress files)
Also check the More Options tab - it may be your System Restore and Shadow Copies that are taking up the hidden space - if your system runs fine, then cleanup the system restore folder (will retain only the latest restore).

Shrink the partition with something like GParted, reboot and let Vista do a disc check. Then do a clone of the partition and MBR with CloneZilla.
Edit: If you have removed practically removed everything, just do a clean installation.

Open command prompt in admin mode
type : powercfg -h off
this disables and deletes the hibernation file.
Also right click on you hard drive go properties and run disk cleanup
Delete anything that disk cleanup finds

Also look for any folders called (Windows.old, Windows.old.001 or something) They are from previous windows installs and can be deleted if you don't find any important data inside there.

Also go to folder options and show hidden files and protected system files. Open your Windows folder and look for folders like this "$NTUninstall" They are from previous windows updates and can also be delete.
