Hi all

Hoping someone can assist.
I am in the process of purchasing another car and trading in my current car. The number plate on my current car starts with CA (Cape Town) . I have transferred this number previously to any new car I purchased and would like for the dealer to transfer it again. The salesperson said that they are not allowed to as it still is a CA numberplate and government wants to get rid of CA plates and I will now have to get new plates starting with CAA.
Is this true or can I still transfer my current CA plates to the new car?

You can still transfer it. I know someone that got a new car recently and kept their CA plate.

Thanks for that. I'll speak to him again. As far as I could see from reading older articles (mostly 2019) it states that CA plates could still be transferred but that was back then.
