I recently got an adsl line installed, moved into a new place, had it for 2 weeks now and its ossum.

Except on Thursdays, I encounter a strange problem, my pc cannot connect to my router, cannot even see its signal, my pc can however see the signals from other routers. (Live in a block of flats)

What makes this problem interesting is that it has only occurred twice, but at the same time of the week, Thursday between 5pm and 12am, and it mysteriously just starts working again.

HALP?

Clearly something is wrong with you adsl router.

Try :
Reset router to factory defaults.
Upgrade router firmware if available
if all these fail then try get the router swapped out.

Not the router

I don't agree with Gambit.
You're connecting to your router via wireless, and you can see other SSID's in the vicinity. Since there's a small number of channels available, isn't it possible that someone is operating on the same channel as your router, swamping your signal, and preventing you from connecting?
It's probably worth downloading a wifi scanner app like Netstumbler, and seeing what channels your neighbours are using.
As a workaround, how about some good old-fashioned LAN cable, until you find the source of the interference?

More than one wifi AP can share the same channel without problems. It just makes the link slower as there will be more traffic on the frequency. However there could be something else (flourecent light, dodgy microwave oven etc) causing interference on the same frequency. So changing your wireless channel is probably also a good thing to try but if your computer is very close to the AP and only picks up AP's from far away then interference is unlikely and you router probably has issues.

Reseting you router will not hurt unless you don't know how to reconfigure it again.

changing the channel is by far a better option than resetting the modem as reseting the modem and not changing the channel will more likely result in the same problem persisting

In my previous post I do agree with trying to change the channel but if that doesn't work then he can try some of my other suggestions. Telling him not to do stuff will not help.
