I did not read the article, but is that an actual concern by the minister, or is it just journalistic excellence at play? Sometimes the articles twist a story for sensation just for clicks.
I gave the N24 article a lookie now, imo written mostly for clicks.

The meat of the article mentions "raises concern", for clicks the title becomes fears major job losses.

Modern day journalism my man.

Either way it's ridiculous. The performance of other companies is not his concern, only his own. And if he's saying that improving the performance of his company would affect another industry, he needs to be fired. It never occurred to him that by growing rail, and therefore the economy, there's room for both.

This is what happens when the feeding trough mentality becomes ingrained. You start to think that there's only so much trough available, rather than how can I grow the trough for all animals...

I'm not sure if it's worth mentioning here, but I knew so many project coordinators and project managers at Eskom who jumped ship to Transnet around 2012-2014 because they had even more enticing salary & benefits offerings.

Ridiculously well put.
