Transnet suspends iron-ore railway

South African state-owned rail operator Transnet said it had suspended operations along its iron-ore corridor to Saldanha since Thursday due to bad weather.
Wait is the Steel plant still operational? Few years ago the train came through pur town 2-3 times daily. Now we hear it maybe once a week.... Really miss the train.

Mostly ore for export (regardless of local operations).

There was some very heavy rain in parts of the Northern Cape in the middle of last week.

No, operations ceased in 2019 (if memory serves)I live nearby in Langebaan. Ore exports seem to be going on despite no new ore coming in. There seem to be several ore ships in the harbour.
