Transtel, a division of transnet LTD, is the largest full service, private telecommunications provider in the southern hemisphere and is recognized by the International Telecommunications Union as an operator. They operate the only other international gateway for voice and data services in South Africa.

The Transnet Group consists of many large government corporations such as South African Airways (SAA), Spoornet, Metrorail, Transwerk, Portnet etc whom Transtel services.
