Travel back to SA

Maybe the OP is a white person. However, seeing there will be at least 300 other white people on the plane, he will blend in. OT airport is extremely busy

That is something that needs to be found out. How I do not know, but lifting the phone is not one of them
 
The issues you've highlighted are civil matters, not criminal so the police will have no reason to be waiting for you.
 
The amount you owe is not enough to warrant having a blacklisted or 'marked' passport. To have a marked passport it has to be much higher...over a million. What you owe is peanuts compared to what other people owe. You will be able to come and go as you please. Visit your granny.
 
thank you all for your comments, it has been really helpful. I thought the amount I left with was peanuts really and was hoping it wouldnt affect travelling back but It was a concern none the less and now I feel a lot better about it. Now that I have a bit more insight, I can start trying to plan my trip, who knows maybe coming back is just the thing needed to boost morale again.

This is exactly what Paul o Sullivan got arrested for.

SA citizens must enter and leave the country on their SA passports. The rule is extremely selectively enforced, but if immigration picks up that you have an SA passport they're allowed to arrest you for it.

Well BA is currently running specials with some good prices on UK > ZA return. You can probably get a direct return flight for 500gbp/10k zar.

2 days of specials left so I'd make that fast...everything else will be more expensive and worse flights.

All he has to do then is call the British consulate. They're required by law to protect him in a foreign country

Yes captain obvious. I'm asking what you think the brits will do for him in terms of this "protection" seeing how they have no jurisdiction and the guy would have been lawfully arrested.

And no the passport used to enter has no effect on being there "as a British citizen". You either are a brit or you are not.

Not sure why you think he'd be arrested in the first place?
