Travel Folk - 1h15 enough ?

Coming back from Riga, I'll be stopping at Schipol for 1h 15 minutes.

It was a time that the Internet cheap flights recommended to me ... and the office accepted it. But is it long enough ?
Sites say 50 minutes is the minimum connection time and Schipol is one the better airports to navigate.
Also, as long as only 1 ticket and one airline.

Any personal experience ?

I guess it all depends if your first flight is on time. So will only know on the day if its enough.

I rate so airports will usually accomadate people who need to transit quickly, I only flew into Schipol and was a jacked up airport.

One ticket ... and also KLM

I think the worst thing about this whole trip is flight times.

I'll want to get back as soon as I can because it's so far and I'll be exhausted

If its one ticket and on the same airline you might be fine. You will be able to check your bag in all the way to your final destination, they should also give you your boarding pass for both flights. So all you need to do is get from one gate to the next.

Only issue i can see, is the second flight is flying out of the EU zone - you may need to clear passport control

The airline reservations systems work out the MCT - Minimum Connection Time when they show available flight options. So if KLM sold you the ticket with that connection time it means they can honor it.

Also since its 1 booking, should be running late they can see which flight you're coming from and make necessary plans.

Of course, the onus is still on you not to take your time and window shop. But it has factored in the minimum reasonable amount of time for an average human (including disabled) to get from one flight to the next.

We recently had this situation with only an hour between arriving and departing again at Hong Kong Airport. The booking was made with one airline. When we stepped off the first flight ground staff with a sign indicating the flight number of our next flight waited for us and assisted us to get through security and to the next gate on time. We got to the gate just as boarding started. Our baggage was transferred to our second flight. But in general I prefer at least two hours between flights to avoid stress and to stretch my legs.

I couldn't change it to anything under 10hrs ... So will chance it

So I never updated this.

The night before, I get a mail that my flight to Johannesburg was canceled. Long story short, I got to Schipol at 9.00 and they had to find me a route back home.

Their only option was Frankfurt (8hrs later) and then JHB from there (2hrs) later. The result was sitting in the airport for an extra 10 hrs and getting me late.

Though, a nice surprise is that KLM compensates passengers for inconveniences... And I got R9,300 for my inconvenience
