Hey Guys,

Ok i know nothing about treadmills except how to run on them i want to buy one for home but have no idea what prices are good what makes are good or even what to look for when buying...

So if there are any gym fanatics out there that can help as to where to buy (East London) how much to spend just for private use and what(e.g. Brands or types or even equipment better than a treadmill ?orbitrek?)

Sportsmans Warehouse? Don't suppose there are any in East London....

They range anywhere from R1000 - R20000, although the 2nd hand market is probably good since everyone decides in January that they are going to buy one and get fit this year, so by the end of February the market is usually saturated with them ;)

I think treadmills you are basically jumping up and down, get yourself a skipping rope and save plenty money.

Rather take 6 months gym membership. Gauranteed you will use it for 3 months then look to sell it.

Atleast at the gym you can go onto bicycles after the treadmill.

i bought a trojan omega, the ones at sportmans were way to much for me. had it for 18 months now and still use it 3 -4 times a week, i get home when its dark most of the time and not safe to jog outside. you probably need to spend about 8 - 10K. all the brands seem to come with a 1 year gaurentee. have incline functions and a good motor is important.

I've got a Trojan Spirit 300 treadmill or something like that. Pretty cool thing to have. It only costed around R4000.

Rather look at getting a bicycle, treadmills are very harsh on the knees.

People want the comfort of exercising without leaving their homes. Unless you meant exercise bike. Those hurt my ass.

Tell me about it - I just started Muaythai again - and I usually use the spinning bikes instead of skipping - Tuesday was my first class - and Thursday when I got on the bike it hurt like hell!
