Treasury: DA too generous

If you had to guess, how many executive members of the Treasury belong to or support the ANC?

Not sure, and it's irrelevant. Just like the Cape Town Finance Department is not the DA, irrespective of which party members might support

It is relevant because politicians set the parameters in which the functionaries have to work.

It doesn't make them "ANC" or "DA". Separate party and state people
I don’t think it can be separated. If your municipality’s decisions are made by a political party, with the majority of seats, it will impact on the services that are delivered.

I agree that the political affiliation of the people who does the work will not affect the outcome.

It is a nice ideal, but the ANC has a policy of cadre deployment, where they specifically "recommend" individuals who are politically affiliated.

Take "mr fixit" Brian Molefe:

Amazing how much more you can do for your people when you don't steal half the money hey :D

Stealing is only a crime in a western paradigm, African masses suffer gladly so their leaders can drive wa Benz's.

I was just going to say that, it was the ANC that came up with government polices to provide free services, now they're bitching because the DA does it better than they can
As far as indigent goes, the DA can take over a year to allocate the grant, especially if you are white. I know a sick old lady who had to send someone to visit the council about 10 times because they queried everything and it took over a year to get the grant. Efforts to find out why went nowhere because the council Ombud is fake.

You mean CoCT ?

You mean CoCT ?

He does, but other posters, also make this mistake, claiming that treasury is the ANC.

On topic, I'm glad that CT is spending on the poor. I may disagree with some DA policy points, but the seem to make fewer massive stuff ups than the ANC.

how much logic fail can you actually get into one post? :wtf:

It is completely relevant.

One of the biggest problems with our government is that people see themselves are ANC members first and government employees second.

Because of the way the ANC currently operates anyone deployed in a senior government job is likely to be an ANC loyalist who toes the party line. Given their tendency to interfere it is more than reasonable to suspect the ANC having a hand in the bent of the report.

The warnings are based on the assumption the City is simply spending money without considering where it is going to come from. The details are also wrong in the news article. The City of Cape Town no longer gives 50 free units of electricity, but have changed it to 60 units for some, and 25 units for others, while tightening up the criteria for being eligible. This information is readily available and points both to the City being aware of the costs of their programs and the report potentially being politically motivated. Is the Treasury reigning in the real spendthrift municipalities?

Like all good little communists, their whole thought process is littered with contradiction. "No racial discrimination", with policies of racial discrimination ."Respect the law", whilst ignoring it.
Well now let's not try to uniquely attribute such things to communists. Unless you think George Bush and David Cameron are also communists.

No such thing as "Free". Cape Town ratepayers are footing the bill.
And nothing wrong with that.

Being run better than elsewhere does not mean there is no bureaucracy. Skin colour has nothing to do with it. The Ombud is not fake either. Like most such things it can take a while to get complaints processed.

The Ombud requires that the department fix the problem before they can intervene.

In reality the department never reverts and the Ombud never intervenes or tracks the problem, hence no/few problems.

yea - "a friend of mine" . . . . . . . . . .
i seem to recall you using that line in a response to a post of mine

i suspect you are sprouting crap as usual, given your bare naked hatred of the da and coct council.

but i also know an old pensioner lady who needed help.
she was slapped with a R500 fine when she should not have.
unlike the "sick old lady" you claim to know - mine was sorted out quickly bu the same coct you despise.
