The Intel i7 motherboards take tri-channel memory, so from my understanding (which could be wrong) you need 3 x DDR3 1333 (Or 1600) memory modules for best performance.

Fine - no problem there - I'll get 3 x DDR3-1333 memory for the board.

I've just found a site where you can get:

Transcend JetRam™ High-Performance Tri-Channel 2GB DDR3-1333 x 3 240-Pin Module Kit : 6-Layer PC Board, Life-Time Warranty

Huh?

What the difference between say Kingston - 2GB DDR3-1333 DIMM and this tri memory?

Does the motherboard need to take this "tri-channel" memory or are normal Kingston modules fine?

Update: Or am I missing the plot completely and the "Tri-Channel 2GB DDR3-1333 x 3 240-Pin Module Kit" is actually 3 x DDR3 1333 modules. Mmmm - from reading the description again it seems so :)

your understanding is correct, for best performance you do need 3x DDR3 modules

Transcend calls it "Tri-Channel" there because it comes in a kit of 3 modules

Aah - thanks. I also wondered why the price as like 3x the normal memory :)

You also need to make sure the ram voltage is around 1.65 as apparently i7 does not like more volts than that on the ram. Tri channel kits all run at 1.65 for that reason
