Hey guys,

I wanna give WoW a go without downloading about a million patches. I got the ISO's from a mate (WoW, Burning Crusade and LK). Now if I install all three, can I just use the trail code for WoW one to just test out the basic features?

My wife and I want to test it out and want to avoid as much downloading as possible due to bandwidth prices. I can't ask on the WoW forums as I need to have a WoW account already which is stupid.

Thanks guys!

yeah I know that. But if I have all three games installed and fully patched, and use a standard WoW trial key, will it let me play so I don't need to download a few gigs worth of patches? Or does the Trial "version" require a different install?

dude, you and your wife rather wanna run around in a virtual world than doing other things?

*shakes head*

other things comes before and after WoW ;)

seriously now, does anyone have an answer to the question?

You will still need to download the patches even if you are running a trial account. I suggest that you get someone close to you to cut some DVDs containing their WoW folder.

I have all the ISO's and all patches.

Tonight I'm going to install:

World of Warcraft,
The Burning Crusade,
Lich King

Then I'm going to install all the patches.

When I open the game with all 3 expansions installed, will I be able to use a standard WoW trial key or do I need to get a Lich King trial key or do I need to get a Burning Crusade trial key.

Maybe I'm just not bringing my point across. *sigh*

I am pretty sure the full WotLK install will work with a trial key. For example, you cannot play WoW with only up to the BC files installed if your account is WotLK enabled. I believe however that the converse would work.

Good luck with the installation. It takes ages so fire up a movie or something while you are at it.

Ok ... if memory serves me right, you need to have all the game content + patches installed on your local system... check, by the sound of it you have it all.

However, when you install each individual expansion, you cannot just enter the zones. You need to activate your account online with the keys of the respective expansion packs. Eg. when I installed TBC I had to go online, and verify my account to unlock it to give me access to outlands... same with Wrath of the Lich King.

Now with a trial account, you will only be able to play the vanilla content up to level 20 if I recall correctly. You wont be able to trade with people, and you wont be able to send and recieve ingame mails. So as long as you have your trial key, and all content media installed you should be good to go.

thanks guys, now those were the answers I was after :D

busy installing now :D

U will have 2 dload a pretty big patch bout 800meg copy the game from someone who has already updated the game fully,

off topic but ive been on this forum bout 10 minutes and i c alot of wow bashers, if u dont like wow WTF are u doing in this forum? U like saying the people should get a life says the people trolling in the wow forums that dont even play wow

Sorry splendid, but you are too late....Steven won't be going for WoW as I think he broke his skull from bumping it into a wall repeatedly - apparently he uploaded gigs and gigs without managing to get his trial to work after a weekend of P2P-based patching....

Lol sounds like me last night with all the damn dc's telkom ftl
