Quick question...

Old mobo + Win 7 + SSD.

Does that get me TRIM support?

I think it might be OS dependent. I have a SATA2 motherboard and TRIM is definitely enabled

If your OS does not support it, then it will not work. In windows you can type fsutil to see.

If your motherboard has SATA2 and is set to AHCI then you can use TRIM with a SATA 3.0 drive.

Check with your hardware manufacturer for more information. TRIM was first included in SATA 3.0, that is a fact.

I have a SATA 2 motherboard (Asus P7H55D-M Evo) and HD Tune isn't showing TRIM in the info tab like it does for a friend of mine's PC who has SATA 3. TRIM is enabled in Windows 7 on my machine when I query it using 'fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify' and the 'Bit 0 - Data Set Management Supported' bit is set to 1, which can be read with SSD Toolboxes, such as that of OCZ or Intel (the Intel one works for other brands too).

So if I understand everyone correctly then AHCI is likely to be the limiting factor for old mobos?
