If you’re looking for Trivial Pursuit, I’d recommend you go for the tabletop board game.
To be honest, I don’t really know what to say about this ’game’. It’s the classic board game, Trivial Pursuit, now on a Wii near you. Trivial Pursuit’s presentation is well executed, with colourful menus and a very enticing theme, but I can’t bring myself to wholeheartedly recommend that anyone go out and buy this game, since you could get essentially the same experience if you buy the actual board game. At least, that way you’d save a heck of a lot of cash, which you could use to buy food, snacks and a shipload of alcohol to spread around at your next game night.
Sure, you can lose integral pieces required to play the game that way, but you won’t lose your eyesight due to overexposure to the floating wedges and flashy lights that Trivial Pursuit brings to your television set. The game offers a few ways to play. The only single-player game mode is called “Clear the Board” and involves just that: clearing the game board by answering all the trivia questions in as short a time and with as high a score as possible.
The other two game modes are multiplayer only. One of them features classic Trivial Pursuit hot-action fun, while the other forces players to alienate their friends by deciding whether or not they’re knowledgeable enough to know the answers to whatever questions they’ve been asked.
The latter game mode would be fairly easy to implement into the tabletop form of Trivial Pursuit, so you’re not missing anything there. The game tracks your stats, such as which categories you’re best at. The questions offered by the game are the usual fare, and your general knowledge of worldly things will definitely be tested. They’ll also be tested in the tabletop form of the game, so once again, if you’re looking for Trivial Pursuit, I’d recommend you go for the tabletop board game.
