Trouble accessing VPN with Vodcom network

I'm having major headaches trying to access my client's server in Belgium through Vodacom's network (3g from here). I'm able to connect to the VPN through a Cisco connection utility. However, when I try a Remote Desktop Connection it treats the destination server like it does not exist. Running the same process on ADSL works perfectly - so it's certainly a Vodacom network problem.

Anyone have an idea what is wrong or how to fix it?

Alistair: same happened with me this morning. Using juniper connect app was unable to connect via vpn but with 8ta and my cell c sim cards no problem. Was the first time I was unable to connect and first time had the error. Phoned vodacom and of course no info (no problem). Tried 3 hours ago and then vodacom was fine. Not at PC unfortunately now though.

Hi, I am having the same problem and was wondering if you ever managed to find a fix?

Using the same laptop and the same SIM card (Vodacom Prepaid)
- if I use my K3715 I can VPN and RDP without any issues
- if I use my K3805-Z I can VPN but I cannot RDP
- if I use my K4510-Z I can VPN but I cannot RDP

Behaviour is consistent even if I use another laptop.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks,
Ralf.

What version of VMC/VMB are you using? I've seen issues with older versions and VPNs where the modem is presented as a network device rather than a modem.

Hi Morkhans,

I am using VMB Release 10.2.302.33178. Have checked for updates, but this version seems to be current.

I upgraded my laptop at the same time that I upgraded the 3G USB stick. Will test and revert using the old laptop to see if the effect is the same.

Thanks, R.

Did anyone manage to find a solution for this problem?
I'm also experiencing problems with a Vodacom 3G connection that connects to work via a Cicso VPN client.
Once connected, the RDP connection fails. I am also not able to ping anything within the VPN network. Not even the gateway.

Works perfectly via ADSL...

download a citrix client DNE, then install cisco thereafter.( might work on and off with issues )
try www.shrewsoft.com and import the cisco config files into it and it works way better than cisco.
another option is ask VC to add the InternetVPN "APN" onto ure account and use that.

Edit:

its a known problem between W7 / new modem network drivers - virtual network connection / cisco not updating the client software for newer OS/hardware support.
