Trouble adding a credit card to PSN

Hi all,
I added my credit card to PSN when I bought my PS4 a few weeks ago, but haven't used it since. I wanted to buy something today (on the store.playstation.com website) and hit a "commerce is not currently available in your region" notification.

Based on another post on these forums, I then tried adding funds to my PSN wallet, which then failed with incorrect card details. So I tried removing and re-adding my card details, no dice. A bit of Googling indicated that PSN is really strict about the details entered for cards, and that they should be copied directly from a bank statement, case and all. Fin, I try that, same problem.

So can anyone who actually has their card working with PSN share how they achieved that please? I'm not even sure if the "Cardholder Name" is supposed to be the name as on the card (like every other damned commerce site) or the one that appears on top of your bank statement.

Are you using a South African PSN account?

Everything should be as per the card, you shouldn't need anything from a bank statement.

Not exactly an answer to your question but why not go with buying voucher codes instead? Buying vouchers from Takealot, Raru or some other stores can save you a couple of Rands and with the stealing of credit card numbers from Sony and other digital download store that happened a while back you can reduce the risk of that happening to you.

Yup, ZA account, ZA card. I set it up exactly as on my card, including case. The address I re-entered exactly as on my bank statement.

Not exactly an answer to your question but why not go with buying voucher codes instead? Buying vouchers from Takealot, Raru or some other stores can save you a couple of Rands and with the stealing of credit card numbers from Sony and other digital download store that happened a while back you can reduce the risk of that happening to you.

I was considering that, but I assumed they'd actually be charging more than face value, not that I'd be saving. I'll have a look, thanks.

Oh, and yeah the data leaks from PSN in the past did have me a bit nervous about this as well

yip +1 to voucher codes - takealot and raru both have them on special so you save a little

also checkout sagamer there are some guys that somehow manage to get the vouchers really cheap and sell them off for less than most retailers (even on special) so you could score there as well.

Stop being so paranoid.

If anything the fact that it happened once, means that it will pretty much never happen again.

You do however get the odd bargain (through vouchers) to buy codes, so in that regard sure buy away.

Honestly, the thought didn't even occur to me. I've never had a good service experience with local distributors.

I went the voucher route, and I'm quite happy with it. I use evopoints for other stuff, and they have what I need at face value so I'm quite happy to give them some more of my hard earned cash

BT Games sell vouchers R1 = R1 in vouchers.

So, R400 gets you a R400 voucher.
