Hey guys.

I wonder whether you have ever experienced something like this before. Yesterday afternoon i noticed that my connection seemed to be getting slower and slower. It had been on all day so i thought maybe it just needed a reboot. Once i rebooted, i tried to make a connection (bridged via a D-Link 504-t) and it responded "Line Busy". I then tried again and it took about 1 minute verifying username and password but it eventually connected. When connected it seems to have a packet loss of about 50% so it is effectively useless! I tried different machines (My laptop, server and desktop machine) and all 3 gave exactly the same response. It seems to only connect occasionally and when it does its terrible. I have tried with both an uncapped axxess account and a capped webafrica account and got the same response on both. I checked with Telkom and they claim there is very little noise on my line and it should be connecting perfectly. I resetted my adsl router and no change. I checked all connections and everything was fine. The only other thing they reckon it could be would be something at the exchange so they are supposedly tracing it back to my residence to check where the problem could be. Any one experienced something like this before?

Had exactly the same experience yesterday. Started getting slower yesterday afternoon and later there was nothing. Checked everything, reset modem. Tried to phone 0800375375 but that was just another hour of wasting time.

Same here - Telkrap must be doing somethng stupid again, not unusual. Notable that connectivity mostly suffered when accessing international sites - probably means they're fiddling with the international pipe again. Wanna bet there'll be a suitably vague message eventually on the SAIX board, saying 'edge router failure - busy investigating' or some such? Hurrrumph...

According to a Telkom helpline person there is a problem with an international link somewhere near Hong Kong.

But the thing is, here at work with exactly the same accounts, my connection is perfect? Must be something to do with my physical line connection at home.

Must be something wrong at home for you. We have nothing at the moment. No ADSL connection is possible at all anywhere in town... Crap...

Yesterday afternoon (around 16:00), I could still access my home DSL fine from the office. I got home just before 19:00, to find the same problem you guys have.

Wasted about an hour resetting, rebooting etc. It hasn't improved by the time I left for work.
