Salutations, everyone!

I've recently gotten ADSL this month, but at the same time I've also had trouble downloading email from my work via Outlook Express. The mail downloads at the speed of a slug (probably less than 1byte per second :P ) and even with ADSL it's terribly slow. This problem appeared at the middle of the month, just before I got my router from Telkom and got onto ADSL. So my question is this: Is this slow mail downloading some kind of problem with having ADSL? Is this due to a problem with my computer? Or is this an external problem that has nothing to do with ADSL?

Specs are:
Windows XP Professional
ADSL 384kb/s
Cybersmart ISP
Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

You'd know by checking the email adress, ie. @telkomsa.net @gmail.com etc.

Anyways, go to the relevant website after checking who the mail provider is and make sure, double check that you have the correct settings.

Try Thunderbird and see if it makes a difference in speed ;)

Oh, in that case my email address ends in @monitoringsa.com (which is the name of the company I work for). And how do I check my settings?

Well, then you have to check with the hosting provider of your company.

Normally with email which is hosted, you enter the same settings as a normal account, but the main difference could be the receive port and or security settings,

Best to check with the host ;)

Ah, okay. I'll email them and double check the settings. Thanks! :)

Try Thunderbird as well, it's a really cool program which is free ;)

Pleasure ;)
